Since 2020, we’ve granted just under $500,000 through our Recovery Fund to small businesses damaged in the unrest following the murder of George Floyd and given out over 400,000 lbs. of food and supplies to 40,000 of our neighbors through our Community Market.
In 2025 we’ve got a renewed focus on both our community as a whole and individuals striving to follow their dreams. On June 21, we’ll be celebrating the resilience and vibrancy of our beloved Lake Street community through Krewe Du Nord, a free, all-ages festival inspired by the spirit of New Orleans — and powered by the heart of our own Minneapolis community.
Looking ahead to the fall, we’re launching a Pitch Day designed to provide direct financial support to emerging BIPOC small business owners.
And we’re dreaming big with plans for a Youth Business Day—a space for young people to imagine themselves as future business leaders. Our own board president and Du Nord Social Spirits owner, Chris Montana, recalls participating in a similar program as the first time he truly saw himself as a business owner. We want to make that moment possible for the next generation.
